Reasons for Not Choosing Nepal.
Instead of staying in Nepal, the decision to study abroad wasn’t an easy option, but there were some strong reasons behind it. Since the rapid modernization of the industry demands advanced education that could meet their needs and solve problems, the education system here has a relatively low pace of improvement in curriculum and practical opportunities. There aren’t many opportunities here for firsthand experience either like internships or real-world projects. Additionally, degrees from Nepal might not be recognized in other countries, which can make it hard to work opportunities abroad and international exposure. Even though there are capable universities like Kathmandu University, Pokhara University, and Purbanchal University offering bachelor’s degrees, their focus is on theory and grades a lot rather than applied learning. After being exposed to the study environment of Nepal for years, I have realized problems like political instability leading to strikes, unstable policies of educational practices, and untimely results publishment. The extensive time it adds to finish studies makes students disadvantageous and unsure about their future. Moreover, the curriculum focuses on the theoretical aspect of the learning rather than the practical experiences due to the lack of resources, well-facilitated and managed labs, and so on. Even among them, there are not many variable options for career prospects that the modern industry demands. I want to make sure I have the best foundation for my future career, so I decided to explore chances abroad.
Why Canada?
Since I decided to study abroad for higher education, I began to search for countries and places that could provide the education I prefer and need. I searched through the web, asked some seniors, took advice from elders, and finally concluded to seek education in Canada. The country, recognized for its quality of education, is also known to be a hub for international students. It offers a diverse living standard, ranging from lower to higher, attracting people from various backgrounds, and also provides security to its residents, international and native. This, along with its public policies and regulations, makes it one of the most stable countries to live in. Canada is home to many well-recognized universities providing developed and practical education. Being one of the highly developed countries, with its presence in many industries, creates better chances for internships and practical experiences. All of this provides a stable environment for international students to learn, fostering connections with diverse minds from different parts of the world, which is important for my career goals. Considering these factors, I placed Canada at the top of my list.
Why [University]?
Since I decided to study in Canada, I looked for a university to enroll for my study and further development. During the search, I crossed upon the [University], perfectly located [location], and committed to developing an educational community that prepares graduates for leadership in the business world. The college takes pride in delivering good educational results with its supportive learning environment that provides interactive and experimental learning. Along with this, the university offers very good accommodations and facilities for international students, along with other basic needs like health services, transportation, and food. In addition to the recognition of its certifications all over the world, the main reason I am completely diverted towards the University is because of the subject that aligns with my goals, which briefs about a practical and theoretical journey in the business sector. The work-integrating learning that the university provides will make me more confident in my level of learning throughout my learning journey.
Why a Bachelor in Business Administration?
From my earliest memories, I have surrounded myself with Role Models like Bill Gates, Jack Ma, Jeff Bezos, etc who defined and transformed the definition of entrepreneurship, teaching the values of hard work and change. As I grew, my curiosity to create change grew more. The influence of Media further charged my motivation, giving access for me to explore stories of these leaders.
Now, after gaining experience in the sector through several designations, I have developed a fine understanding of financial analysis, investment management, and business planning. However, I am still academically behind in achieving my ultimate career goal, and pursuing [DEGREE] is essential to level up my managerial and leadership skills so that I can rise in the competitive business environment. The skills thus acquired will also include recording transactions which is essential for a proper grasp of organizational finances. Similarly, Principles of Management will again teach management principles, organizational structure, leadership styles, resolution processes, and strategic planning. Considering rapid digitization in businesses, I am looking to learn word processing, spreadsheet analysis, database management, and presentation software through Computer Applications for Business as it is targeted to improve the technological efficiency of students in various business applications. Lastly, Entrepreneurship will provide an exploration of tenets like opportunity recognition, business planning, financing, and risk management that will further cover creativity, innovation, business planning acumen, and the development of an entrepreneurial mindset, which I can benefit from if I ever plan to start my venture in the future.
I am interested in learning the Vision, Values, Philosophies, and Ethics of business administration as it guides decision-making, sets the tone for organizational behavior, and gives a sense of purpose among employees. Strong ethics are vital for maintaining trust with stakeholders, including customers, employees, and investors, and learning such skills can enable me to deal with complex decisions and challenges considering the long-term sustainability and a positive corporate reputation. Moreover, understanding historical contexts will make me aware of historical injustices and power imbalances that once impacted business practices, international trade, and relations. In sum, the total module will equip me with to-dos and not-to-dos of business administration, and I am very excited about the opportunity.
Future Plans
The contemporary business sector in Nepal is catching pace and is likely to offer a multitude of opportunities in the future. As the nation continues to evolve and globalize, the potential for entrepreneurship and innovation in various sectors has never been more promising and this prospect for economic development of a budding entrepreneurial system seems very exciting to me. After the completion of my studies in Canada, I will be returning to Nepal, keen to apply the knowledge and experiences I have gained overseas to contribute to the growth of my homeland. In exploring various avenues for entrepreneurial endeavors, I have identified a compelling opportunity in the domestic shoe production and manufacturing sector. Since market trends and demands have shown great potential for success in this area, I have made up my mind to establish a strong foothold in the market. To initiate, my first step will be entering as a Marketing Coordinator in one of Nepal’s finest shoe companies like Gold Star Shoes, Caliber Shoes, Royal Shoes Nepal, etc. In the company, my official duties will include coordinating marketing campaigns, conducting research, and supporting the implementation of promotional strategies. I will work with the marketing team to result in good execution of initiatives and track campaign performance. Very few years later, I will apply to take on the Operations Manager in the same company, for broader responsibilities of business operations and management like looking after the projects, executing process improvements, and leading the operations team. I will be responsible for optimizing operational efficiency, managing resources, and keeping up the smooth day-to-day functioning of the operations department.
Thereafter, understanding the market trends, learning how small to big ventures strive and success, utilizing my savings, and with some partnerships, I have planned to launch my shoe empire. Our motto will be “Empowering each step” and we will entirely focus on manufacturing a variety of products, from comfortable and durable everyday shoes to specialized footwear designed for trekking, mountaineering, and outdoor activities. The impact of this venture will go far beyond my aspirations as it can contribute to national revenue by creating employment opportunities for locals and utilizing local resources. By prioritizing the production of leather-free shoes, we contribute to environmental sustainability as well, and will also compete with international markets with our hard work. Ultimately, I want my venture to be an example of success, just like the companies I will once have worked for.
Motivation to Return
My life began with those first steps in my homeland, Nepal, where my hopes blossomed and ambitions were born. First and foremost, my family with their faith and tireless efforts, occupies an invaluable part of my heart. The bonds I have with my family are not just feelings coming from the relation of blood; they flourished with love, care, and countless irreplaceable memories. Their love and hard work have held my dreams secured, shielding them from the storms of uncertainty. Every day, I carry the weight of their dreams on my shoulders. I haven’t forgotten the countless nights they spent worrying about my future, nor the sacrifices they made to ensure I had opportunities they never did. Throughout my time abroad, not a day will pass without remembering the comfort of family gatherings, their warm presence, and the firm aid they have always provided. Their encouragement has been the pointer that pushed me towards achieving my academic goals and my return to my native will be a step to honor them, to stand beside them in their golden years, and to continue their legacy.
Be that as it may, while Canada would be an amazing chapter in my life, offering me precious lessons, diverse experiences, sophisticated lifestyles, and great friendships, I will still wait for the moment to sit once again under the banyan tree in our courtyard, sharing stories with my grandparents, walking familiar routes, feeling the soil of my homeland beneath my feet, and enjoying the simple joys of life like gathering with friends for Deusi Bhailo celebrations and enjoying [ETHNIC] cuisines like Kinema and Dhindo.
